Ann E. Quarfoot, age 96, of Trenary, died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at her home under the loving care of her son and Northwood’s Home Hospice.  She was born on November 4, 1919 in Traunik, MI to the late Joseph and Joanna (Mikulich) Shega. Ann married Earl B. Quarfoot on December 23, 1943.  Shortly after marriage, Ann traveled the country as the wife of a military man with 23 years of service in the Navy. She and Earl raised 3 children relocating frequently until settling near the Great Lakes Naval Base in the Chicago area for many years before retiring to Trenary in 2002. While raising her family was her priority, Ann also worked with several companies throughout her life including assembly work in manufacturing during World War II to a 20+ year career with Union Oil Company in Schaumburg, Illinois. She instilled certain qualities in her children and encouraged them to work hard, value formal education and plan for the future.
