Arbor Jean Volz

Arbor Jean Volz, age 67, of Manistique died of an unexpected illness at her home late Friday afternoon, December 19, 2025. Arbor was born on March 26, 1958 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Alton “Blackie” and Marilyn (Judd) Volz. She grew up in Lansing and in 1974, the family moved to the Upper Peninsula. Arbor graduated from Manistique High School in 1976. She started dating Russell Jackson and the two of them have had a great partnership together for forty-eight years. Together, they raised their daughter, Jamie. Arbor worked alongside her sisters, brother, and grandmother at Clyde’s. She car hopped, waitressed, worked the counter, and cooked. Her favorite job was as the dispatcher for South Eastern Trucking. Arbor loved talking to everyone at that job. She also worked alongside her sister and daughter at the Schoolcraft County Medical Care Facility. Arbor was very sweet. When you were her friend, you were her friend for life. She would do anything or give anything to someone in need. Arbor loved to read and crochet. She was a great cook and baker, and she expressed her love for her family by feeding them. Arbor truly loved her family.

Arbor is survived by her partner – Russ Jackson of Manistique; their daughter – Jamie Jackson; their grandchildren – Bailie Jackson, Wesley Setterlind, and Wyatt Setterlind; sisters – Brenda (Charles) Martin, Connie (Jim) Johnson, and Dana (Karl) Stott; brother – Edward Volz; nieces and nephews – Michelle, Crystal, Bradley, Justin, and Brittany; and special family on Russ’ side Kimberly (Bill) Theresa and Billy Chartier, and Ann (Buster) Grunwell and Jodie Jackson. Arbor was preceded in death by her father Blackie Volz, mother Marilyn Volz Fritz, stepfather Donald Fritz, nephew Ethan, and Russ’ parents Russell and Jackie Jackson.

A celebration of Arbor’s life will be held in the spring or summer of 2026.
