Barbara Ann Brisson

Barbara Ann Brisson, age 57, passed away March 22nd, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on March 9th, 1959 in Munising, MI to Bill and Ellie (Mannisto) Brisson of Limestone, MI.  She lived in the Chatham area in her youth and attended Bay de Noc Community College to pursue her career in nursing.  She was a compassionate nurse and her patients always spoke of the wonderful care she gave them.

She was an avid sports fan, loyal to her Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Tigers, and especially enjoyed following her niece Ellie’s basketball career and even providing her nephew Ross with his first race car, sparking a love for NASCAR.

She greatly enjoyed her “adventures” with her grandchildren, spending time outdoors, and was a passionate activist in her later years.

She is survived by her mother - Ellie Brisson of Limestone; her three children – J.J. (Ashly) Gleason of Gwinn, Joey (Jessica) Gleason of Marquette, and Sarah (Kevin Potter) McConkey of Houghton Lake; three siblings – Bill (Katy) Brisson Jr. of Limestone, Steven (Lisa) Brisson of Cheboygan, and Joelle (Ross) Olsen of Sands; three grandsons – Isaac Gleason, Desmond Gleason, and Kayden Potter, and soon to be fer first granddaughter Katriina Potter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father Bill Brisson Sr., paternal grandparents Vic and Emma Brisson, and maternal grandparents Matt and Martha Mannisto.

The memorial service will be held Thursday, March 31st, 2016 at the Sion Lutheran Church in Chatham.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon followed by a service conducted by Pastor Paul Kelto.
