Munising
Bernard "Bruno" Woodaz age 74, of City Limits Road, Munising died suddenly while convalescing at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising, on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 9:20 a.m. Bruno was born March 22, 1932 in Munising to the late Jacob and Anna (Kaplan) Woodaz.
Bruno attended school in Munising. He was drafted in the U.S. Army serving from April 1952 to April 1954 serving in Korea. H e was awarded a combat infantry badge - United National Service Medal - National Defense Service Medal - Korean Service Ribbon w/2 Bronze Service Stars. Prior to and after the service he worked in the woods with the Graves Brothers, he also worked at McDonald sawmill in Munising where he was seriously injured which prohibited him from returning to work; although, he worked with Pathways where he learned to weave Nordic rugs, something he really enjoyed. Bruno was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion and was a member of the Polish American Society.
Bruno is survived by 4 sisters: Helen (August) Rzanca - Cecilia Woodaz - Mary Kordish - Stella (William) Cabanaw all of Munising - 1 brother: John (Patricia) Woodaz of Rumely - 1 sister-in-law: Betty Woodaz of Munising, also 29 nieces & nephews, and numerous grand and great grand nieces and nephews. - Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Ted "Toge" and a sister Bernice Woodaz.
Friends may call at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Monday, December 4, 2006 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Parish Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Sacred Heart Church.
Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery Veterans Plot in Munising. A Veterans service will be conducted at the gravesite by the American Legion and Alger Vets following the funeral mass.
