Beryl Margaret O’Boyle, age 94, of Munising, died Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living in Marquette following a brief illness. She was born on June 29, 1928 in Manistique, Michigan to the late Gordon and Margaret (McEachren) Robare. She grew up in Munising and then Detorit before retuning home to graduate from Wm. G. Mather High School. Beryl left the U.P. for work and became a secretary at Packard Motor Car Company in Detroit. Beryl moved back home and met Edward “Punk” O’Boyle, they were married on June 11, 1955. Beryl worked as a teller at First National Bank and then at People State Bank where she also worked with insurance sales. In 1971, Beryl and Punk developed and opened Horseshoe Falls where she ran the giftshop, and he maintained the grounds. In the winters the two of them would live in Arizona spending twenty-six years in Phoenix and twenty-four years in Kingman, AZ. Over this stretch of time Beryl help Punk build twenty-eight homes as a laborer, painter, and bookkeeper. They loved their time in Arizona, traveling to the casinos in Laughlin, going to the horse tracks, and golfing every Wednesday and Friday. Back in Munising they decided to sell Horseshoe Falls and developed Irish Hills subdivision where they have lived for the past thirty years. Beryl was a member of the Pictured Rocks Golf and Country Club, she enjoyed working in her garden, and loved her dogs.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years Punk O’Boyle and numerous nieces and nephews. Beryl was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Shirl (Barb) and Gordon “Duda” (Donna) Robare.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Fr. Michael Ocran will conduct Beryl’s funeral at the Bowerman Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising in the Spring.
