Betty Jean (Rochefort) Richardson

Betty Jean Richardson, age 72, of Beech Street in Shingleton, died at 10:15 p.m. at her home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 under the loving care of her family and North Woods Hospice.  She was born on April 28, 1944 in Escanaba, Michigan to Leslie and Mae (Gollakner) Rochefort.   Betty was raised in Fayette until she was sixteen, lived one year in Grand Marais, and then moved to Munising.  She married James “Jim” Richardson in 1962 and Betty raised their four children.  She went to work at Timber Products in 1976 and retired after twenty-seven years in 2003 as the Veneer Inspector.  Betty loved snowmobiling, camping, and bowling in league for many years.

She is s survived by four children – James “Jim” Richardson of Munising, Rhonda (Joe) Suardini of Shingleton, Sherrie Richardson of Munising, and Robert “Bobby” (Amy) Richardson of Shingleton; daughter-in-law – Anne Cromell of Munising;

grandchildren – Jimmy and Willow Richardson, David (Jessica), Kevin (Valerie), Sherrie (Dustin Curcio), Nicholas, and Sarah Suardini, Jessica and Joey Richardson, Robert Richardson, Jr., and Michael and Andrew Johnson; great-grandchildren – Connor, Kaylynn, Kyli; siblings - Sharon Albright of Munising,  Shirley Stone of Munising, Darlene (Ted) Brown of Christmas, Steven (Clara “TD”) Rochefort of AuTrain, Patricia (Kenneth “Rocky”) VanDorn of Wetmore, Brenda (Bob) Helsel of Munising, and Leslie (Cris Weinberg) Rochefort, Jr; sister-in-law Sandra Rochefort of Milwaukee; numerous nieces and nephews.  Betty was preceded by her parents, husband Jim on September 12, 1997, parents-in-law - Jim, Lucy, and Betsy Richardson; granddaughters Rita Lynn and Jennifer Rose Richardson, brother Norman Rochefort, sister Linda Demogola, great-granddaughter – Stella Rae; and former daughter-in-law Frannie Glyptis.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.  Pastor Robin VeltKamp will conduct Betty’s funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
