Bruce Hill, age 77, of Chatham, died at his home under the loving care of his wife, Wilma, and Lake Superior Hospice late Tuesday evening, May 27, 2025. He was born November 6, 1947 in Marquette, Michigan to Frank and Miriam (Tapola) Hill. Bruce lived an idyllic childhood growing up in Chatham and remained close to his childhood friends throughout his life. He moved downstate to Pontiac in 1965 to pursue work and found his calling in the banking industry and worked for 52 years in various positions, ending his career with Peoples State Bank, where he said he lived happily ever after for 12 years with wonderful bosses and co-workers. Fuzzy still had a special place in his heart.
In his younger years he was involved in recreational softball from coaching, playing and umping. He met Wilma on the softball field and fell in love and they pursued their mutual interest for years even winning multiple state titles with their teams. He then took up golf which became his second love and was a member of Pictured Rocks Golf Club for 35 years.
During his life Bruce served with the Huron Valley Lions Club, Alger County Kiwanis, Munising Rotary, Pictured Rocks Gold Club, Munising Vanguards and Sion Lutheran Church.
Bruce started singing in the 70’s when karaoke took off. The more he sang the more he enjoyed it. He was part of The Vanguards, The Pastels, The Gospel Guys, The Gospel Trio and often sang in church for special music. He was a big hit at local karaoke events as well. Most of all, Bruce loved singing and praising the Lord.
Bruce was a huge Detroit sports fan following the Lions, Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings. Only wishing he would live long enough to see the Lions win a Super Bowl. He also followed U of M, Duke, Gonzaga and of course Superior Central Cougars.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Wilma and their son Danny. Sister Pam (Mark) Ferguson. Nieces Alisa (Jason) Newbill, their children Zander, Daphne and Paisley. Ginger Bejin and her sons Parker and Logan. Brother in law and Sister in law Clifford and Debra Wilkerson. Nephew Clifford Wilkerson, Jr and children Breanna (Randy), Chelsea and Cliff.
