Munising

Brunella Gurski of Munising, Michigan passed away on April 3, 2024 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was born in Munising on February 8, 1955 to Stanley  (Stosh) and Elaine (Maki) Gurski.

She attended Sacred Heart Catholic  school and graduated from Mather High School  in 1973. Brunella attended college in Minneapolis, Minnesota and worked many years as an oral surgeon assistant. She also worked as a seamstress at a bridal salon, a job she loved.  She did seamstress work throughout her life for clients, family and friends. This included making alterations to clothing for her niece Arie who has limb differences. She did this with so much love. Being a member on the Alger County Historical Society Board she  recently took on the job of  repairing clothing in the archives for preservation and future displays.  Making Barbie doll clothes for her sister Becky was something else that she enjoyed doing.  Always in search of different materials to use in making new outfits for the dolls.    A love of plants, both indoors and out, was another passion of hers. This led her to create a butterfly garden at the Heritage Center.  This garden will be continued in her memory. She also worked in gardens along with her brother, Brian and sister-in-law, Cathy at their property on Connors Road which was once their grandparents home.   She was willing to assist anyone who needed help with plants inside or out.

Brunella was a board member of the Alger County Historical Society and a member of Wetmore Community Club.

Surviving are her mother, Elaine Gurski of Tolleson, AZ, brother Brian (Cathy) Gurski of Munising, sister Becky Gurski of Tolleson, AZ, and brother Bruce (Jill Silbaugh) Gurski of Pittsburgh, PA.  She is also survived by a niece, Nicole (Danny) Graves and nephews Brad Gurski,  Lance Gurski, and Ron Matson as well as nine great nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her father Stanley Gurski Jr, her grandparents Stanley Sr and Armena Gurski and Matt and Madelon Maki.

A celebration of Brunella’s life will be held at a later date this summer.
