Charles Braunshausen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on June 10, 2026, at 89 years old. He was born on July 18, 1936, in Maywood, Illinois, to the late William and Agnes Braunshausen. His life was a tapestry of love, service, and laughter, woven together with threads of kindness and humor that touched everyone he met.
A proud graduate of Proviso East High School in 1954, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois. He served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961, serving a year as a medic in Korea.
On August 11, 1962, Charles married the love of his life, Denise Klein at Saint James Catholic Church in Maywood, IL, a suburb of Chicago. Together, they spent over 63 wonderful years building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Loving father to their children: Vivian Graham (nee Braunshausen), Katherine Braunshausen, and William Braunshausen and grandfather to their granddaughter, Amanda Braunshausen, and their great-grandchild Emma.
He was generous, had a great sense of humor, and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. Charles was predeceased by his parents, William and Agnes and brothers, Richard and Walter.
His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his surviving family members. A memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Charles's memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to a charity of your choice, continuing his lifelong commitment to helping others. Charles Braunshausen will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
