Clarice (Peterson) Prunick

Munising

Clarice “Clare” Prunick, age 80, of Munising, died unexpectedly at her son’s home in Farmington, Minnesota on Thursday, January 21, 2021.   She was born in Munising on January 22, 1940 to Clarence and Mary (Mattson) Peterson.  Clare grew up in Detroit and graduated from high school there.  She moved to Chicago and met William “Bill” Prunick.  They were married in October of 1966 and together raised their two sons in Munising.  Clare and Bill were married over twenty-nine years when he preceded her in death on November 25, 1995.  Clare worked at the Ski-Doo shop before beginning employment at Timber Products.  She was a marker in the veneer mill and retired in 1997.  Clare was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church and she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She was a member of the Red Hats Society and enjoyed golfing in women’s league and working crossword puzzles.  Clare was a devoted Munising Mustang fan.  She was supportive of all sports enjoyed sporting her orange and black at the field and in the gym.  Clare and her best friend, the late Karen Hamilla, spent many hours traveling, playing, bingo, and taking trips to the casino.  Clare was very proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed the precious time she spent with them.   She was a faithful woman who enjoyed laughing and loving, and she will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Clare is survived by her sons – Tim Prunick of Farmington, MN and Steve (Yolanda) Prunick of Hastings, MN; grandchildren – Halena Allen, William and Maya Prunick; brother – Clarence “Pete” (Jenny) Peterson; sister – Cindy Peterson; in-laws – Janet Prunick and Tom (Harriet) Prunick; and numerous nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Mary, husband Bill, sister Mary (William) Thomas, parents-in-law – Frank and Veda Prunick, and brother-in-law Don Prunick.

Services for Clare will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 3:30 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home.  Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Michael Ocran at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.  Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising in the spring.

During the visitation at the funeral home, Covid precautions and attendance regulations will be observed as directed by the MDHHS.  Masks will be required, and the funeral home staff will be assisting with social distancing and 25-person attendance restriction.  To help with compliance and if able, if your last name begins with A – M, please attend from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m.  If you last name begins N – Z, please attend from 1:45 to 3:30.

Gravesides services for Clare will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munisnig.
