Connie Lynn Lacko

Connie L. Lacko, age 69, of Shelter Bay, died following a brief illness on Friday afternoon, December 15, 2023 at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.  She was born on April 9, 1954 in West Branch, Michigan.  Connie grew up there and graduated from High School in West Branch.  She raised her three children and when her parents purchased the Tioga Bar in Deerton, she and her young family moved to the Upper Peninsula.  It was on the Lake Superior shores that she met Brian Bresette and had spent the last forty-five years making a life together.  Connie worked at the Tioga, briefly for an insurance company, and at the Lakeside Inn.   It was at the AuTrain Onota Public Schools in Deerton where she found her home.  She began as a custodian and then took over all the kitchen duties.  Ms. Lacko was the “chief cook and bottle washer” to many children in the lunchroom over the years.  She retired from the school fourteen years ago.  Connie also served as a trustee for Onota Township. She loved daily walks – especially on the beach collecting beach glass.  Connie enjoyed flower gardening, daily conversations on the phone with Nikki, and feeding and taming the wildlife in her yard.

She is survived by her husband - Brian Bresette of Shelter Bay; children – Tina (Chris) Hoffman of Milwaukee, Michael (Nikki) Remilong of Negaunee, and Scott Lacko of Detroit; five grandsons – Logan Orr, Issiac Lacko, Michael (Samantha) Remilong, Collin Remilong, and Chris Hoffman, Jr.; a great granddaughter on the way; brother – Dave Remilong of AuTrain; mother-in-law Joanne Bresette of Harvey; and her beloved dog Lulu and cat Squeaky.   Connie was preceded in death by her parents.
