AuTrain
Cynda “Cyndy” Brown, age 66, of AuTrain, died Saturday, January 18, 2020, at her home following an unexpected illness. She was born in Marquette on March 14, 1953, to the late Marvel and Louise (Hylo) Wing. Cyndy grew up in Christmas and graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in Munising in 1971. She began employment at Kimberly-Clark on February 21, 1972, as an Accounting Clerk in the Financial Services Department. Cyndy progressed through several jobs until she accepted the position of Maintenance Assistant in 1989, the position she held until retirement on March 1, 2009, after thirty-seven years of service. While doing inventory at the mill, Cyndy acquired the help of a roll-grab driver to help move and sort rolls she was in charge of counting. It didn’t take long for her to notice this kind and helpful driver for more than just a co-worker. Cyndy married Bob Brown on April 1, 1988, and together they raised their family in AuTrain. Bob and Cyndy had their own mud drag racing team, Brown’s Bay Racing. They traveled around the U.P. and Wisconsin, where they each raced their truck, the “Animaniac”. They may have filled their home with trophies, but friendships made and family adventures were their real winnings. After retirement, Cyndy lived for her grandchildren. She cherished the time they would spend together and looked forward to their sleepovers. Cyndy also enjoyed photography, sharing her photos of the sunrises over Lake Superior, nature, her latest creation in the kitchen, her grandchildren’s adventures, or the trouble her dog was getting into.
Cyndy is survived by her husband of over 31 years – Bob Brown of AuTrain; children – Lee (Megan) Brown of Marquette and Cassy (Zach) Baij of Ishpeming; grandchildren – Noelle, Owen, Patrick, Leo and Jaina; father-in-law – Robert C. Brown of Chatham; mother-in-law – Rebecca Coats; sisters-in-law – Chris (Steve) White and Judy Collins; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents – Marvel and Louise.
Private family services will be held in the spring.
