Munising
Daniel “Danny” Lee DeLisle, age 75, of Munising, died unexpectedly in his sleep at his home on Friday, May 17, 2019. He was born on August 15, 1943 in Munising, Michigan to Roy and Dolly (Cormier) DeLisle. Danny grew up in Munising and graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force on March 19, 1964 and served as a Fire Protection and Aircraft Crash Rescue Specialist until January 19, 1968. When Danny got out of the service, he worked in the Bay City area at the Tri-City Airport. He returned to Munising and began employment with the State of Michigan at the DNR Cusino Wildlife Research Station. Danny married Karen L. Trisch on June 5, 1971 and together raised their four children in Munising. He worked for the State for eighteen years as a Wildlife Technician before he retired. Danny was an avid member of the Michigan United Conservation Club and served as the President for MUCC. He was a member of the Munising Lions Club and volunteered for many projects in the community. He taught Hunter’s Safety, loved being outdoors hunting and fishing, enjoyed spending time at camp on Perch Lake, appreciated old cars, and enjoyed discussing politics. Danny also enjoyed spending his winters in Costa Rica and travelling around Central America.
He is survived by his wife of over forty-seven years – Karen DeLisle; their children – Michelle, Durae, Scott, and Daniel DeLisle; grandchildren – Evan, Nitai, and Noah; brother – Gary DeLisle; sister – Julie DeLisle; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; sisters-in-law – Gloria Hall and LeeAnn Trisch; and brothers-in-law – Larry and John Trisch. Danny was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dale and Dave.
Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion and Vietnam Veterans Honor Guard on Saturday, June 29, 2019 12:00 noon at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising. A fellowship gathering will take place at the American Legion from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
