Munising
Daniel Hollie Humphrey, age 58, of Munising, MI died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, at his home. Dan was born on June 20th, 1966, in Fremont, MI to the late Hollie and Mary (Kushmaul) Humphrey.
Dan loved being outside and spending time talking with his neighbors. He spent many years working as a logger and would often take his children out to the woods to teach them how to cut trees. He spent many hours outdoors and enjoyed building bonfires and spending time with friends and family. When he wasn’t outdoors, he was in front of the television cheering on the Wolverines football team. He was a huge fan of UofM football and would look forward to learning the team every year. He would talk for hours about highlights of the previous week’s game and knew the stats of the greatest players.
One of his favorite things was sitting down with a pot of coffee and talking for hours. Dan loved cooking and would share recipes and samples with anyone who asked. He had his own special recipe for a pasty that included some mushroom gravy, a meal remembered by many.
Throughout his years Dan also shared his love of art. He created a business with his cousin Josh doing tattoo work and often shared his art in that way. He was an amazing artist and had a brilliant creative mind. His art is remembered by many.
Dan also had a love for 80’s rock and shared that love with anyone who would listen. He passed on his records to his nephew Matthew when he was young, creating a special bond between his love of music and his love for family. That relationship with music has shaped the lives of multiple family members including his daughters Hollie, Samone, Alexis, and his son Dylan. He connected through music and showed his love by sharing his favorite songs. Dan loved and cared for many people and his beloved dog Bear.
Dan was proceeded in death by his parents Hollie and Mary (Kushmaul) Humprey and his baby sister Mary May.
