David E. Parkinson, age 76, died following a brief illness at UPHS – Marquette on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.  He was born on April 6, 1947 in West Branch, Michigan to the late Lawrence and Josephine (Schaefer) Parkinson.  David graduated from Rose City High School in 1965.   He served in the U.S. Army from July of 1966 to July of 1968 as a truck driver in Germany.   David returned home and went to work for General Motors.  He retired after 30 years from the Buick Flint automotive plant.  David left Millington and built his retirement home in Chatham.  He loved being outdoors on his property where he enjoyed deer hunting, hunting with his beagles, fishing, and gardening.   David married Beverly Anderson and they enjoyed spending the last fifteen years together.  He was a generous man with his time and talents and always helped those in need quietly and without fanfare.  His quiet kindness gave in death, as he gave in life as an organ and tissue donor.  During that time, he and his family were given wonderful, compassionate, and dignified care from the staff at UPHS.

David is survived by his wife – Beverly Parkinson; daughter – Angela (Shannon) Ashbaker; stepchildren – Aaron (Ieva) Anderson and Bonnie (Patrick) Boris; grandchildren - Brandon, Cameron, Collin, and Brittany Fischer, Gage Parkinson, Kristen (Taylor) Long, and “his girl” Avalynn Swick; brothers – George (Barbara) Parkinson, Larry Parkinson, and Charles (Louise) Parkinson; and sister – Mary Morris.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Christine, son David, Jr., and brother Robert.

Per David’s request, there will be no public services.
