Dawn M. Weaver (nee Peterson), age 62, of Chatham, died Thursday, December 4, 2025 at her home under the loving care of her husband and Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice. She was born November 17, 1963 in Marquette to the late Richard Peterson and Anita Wopat. Dawn worked for over 30 years at Marquette General Hospital and retired as a unit clerk. She also worked part-time at the New Moon in Eben. Dawn married Jeff Weaver and together they loved each other and being together in the outdoors. She had harvested a number of black bears and big bucks. She even won the buck pole at the Moon one year. Dawn didn’t only hunt for animals, she was an avid and talented mushroom hunter. She and Jeff could be found in the winter in their ice shack catching northerns or out on the ice building an igloo when the fish weren’t biting. Their summers were filled with fishing and camping with friends at their favorite spot at Dunklee’s. And like any good Yooper who wanted to keep her special places secret, if you asked her where she shot her deer or where did you find all those mushrooms? She would let you know “In the head” and “In the woods.”

Dawn is survived by her husband Jeff Weaver of Chatham, son Jay (Jessica) Rose, and granddaughters Shalynn and Nevaeh Derossett. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister.

No public services are scheduled at this time.
