Dolores Soldenski

GRAND MARAIS
Dolores (Meidlar) Soldenski, 77, of Grand Marais, Michigan, entered eternal life Monday, March 12th, 2007 at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital, Newberry, Michigan.
She was born on January 16th, 1930 in Hamtramck, Michigan to the late Catherine and Walter Meidlar. Dolores attended St. Florian's Catholic School and graduated from Hamtramck High School where she met her future husband Don. They were married at St. Florian's on June 16th, 1951. They then made their home in the city of Warren, Michigan where they remained for 35 years. During this time they had and raised four children. After Don's retirement they made their home in Grand Marais.
She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Grand Marais and served as an extra-ordinary minister. Dolores was kind, generous, loving, beautiful, and adventurous. Even at 76 she was kayaking in the bay in Grand Marais. She enjoyed traveling, most recently to Australia, Eastern Europe, and China. She also enjoyed Casino Visits, Bingo, Bargain Hunting, Ladies' Night Out on Thursdays, First Monday Luncheons, many 4th of July bon fires on the beach, and playing games around the dining room table with her family. Dolores is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Donald, her daughter and best friend Katherine (Gary) Barney of Gwinn, Michigan, her sons Daniel and Robert Soldenski both of Warren, Michigan, Nine Grandchildren; Brenna (Jason) LaBeau of Gwinn, Trisha (Stephen) Dodge of Waseca, Minnesota, Derek Soldenski of Los Angeles, California, Heather, Holly, and Andrew Soldenski all of Warren, Talena (Ed) Starski of Pueblo, Colorado, Tiana and Tessa Soldenski both of Warren, a Great Grandson Ethan Starski of Pueblo, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, a brother, and a son Valen David Soldenski.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at the Holy Rosary Church in Grand Marais on Saturday March 17th, 2007 at 11:00 am with Father Paul Karottekunnel officiating. Internment will be held at a later date. Dolores' favorite charity is Food For The Poor, INC.
