Donald J. Wells Jr

Donald J. Wells, Jr., age 61, of Eben Junction, died after a courageous battle with cancer early Tuesday afternoon, November 24, 2015 at the UP Health Systems in Marquette with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born on February 12, 1954 in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Donald and Shirley (Daly) Wells, Sr. Don grew up in Enfield, CT and graduated from Enrico Fermi High School in 1972. While working as a supervisor in a sawmill in Greenville, Maine, he met Barbara Haun. They were married on November 25, 1994 and moved to Pennsylvania with Don's work. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Rebecca Daly Wells. In 1999, Don took a supervisor job with a sawmill in the Upper Peninsula and then in 2010, he went to work for Cliffs Natural Resources. Don's crew was the Tilden Concentration Crew II and he enjoyed working and providing for his family. His hard work ethic didn't stop at the mine. Don, Barbara, and Becca all worked hard on their hobby farm in Eben. He poured his heart, soul, and extra energy into the "Lone Tree Farm" and being with his girls. Don had always loved horses and he passed down that love of animals and hard work ethic to Becca. He was supportive of all she did and enjoyed watching her race her horse.

He is survived by his loving wife - Barbara Wells of Eben Junction; their daughter - Rebecca Wells of Eben Junction; sister - Jackie (Fernando) Madera; brothers - Michael (Sharon), Vinnie (Kim), and Bill Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tommy, grandparents - Katherine and Vincent Daly and William Wells, and aunt Kathleen Stingle.

Services will be held at the Sion Lutheran Church in Chatham on Sunday, November 29, 2015. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Pastor Paul Kelto will conduct Don's memorial service at 3:00 p.m.
