Dorothy E. Johns, age 94, of Wetmore, died Friday, August 11, 2023 at UPHS – Marquette.  She was born on February 11, 1929 in Munising the fourth of eleven children to the late Lyman and Ada (Clark) Johns.  Dorothy worked at a number of places: Munising Wooden Ware, Taylors Cleaners, Dallas Cleaners, Superior Health Haven as a nurse’s aide, and Timber Products.  She was an operator in the veneer mill for many years and retired from Timber Products in 1991.  Dorothy enjoyed knitting, crocheting, flower gardening, going for walks, and working on jigsaw and wordsearch puzzles.  She was a faithful member of the Munising Wesleyan Church.  Dorothy’s family was very important to her.

She is survived by her sister Opal Kyllonen of Hermansville, MI; sister-in-law – Marilyn Johns and Charlotte Johns; eighteen nieces and nephews – Carol, Susan, Gloria, Harold Jr., Kathy, Archie, Mary Lou, Wesley, Bonnie, Lisa, Thomas, Virginia, Charlyn, Sherry, Sharon, Timmy, David, and Danny; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents Lyman and Ada; siblings – Edith, Clayton, Harold (Jean), Jimmy, Ivan, Glendale (Carol), Stanley and infant brothers Benjamin and Donald; and brother-in-law – William Kyllonen.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.  Dorothy’s funeral will be at the Munising Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
