Douglas Lee Hancock, age 45, of N1177 E-T Road, Trenary died unexpectedly at his home of an apparent cardiac event on Friday, June 29, 2018.  He was born in Munising on December 29, 1972 to Norman and Theresa (Dawson) Hancock.  Doug grew up in Eben and Chatham and while in high school he worked at the Do-It Center in Munising.  He also participated in athletics and played basketball and excelled in baseball.  Doug graduated from Superior Central High School in 1991 and attended Bay de Noc College and Northern Michigan University.    He married his high school sweetheart, Shannon M. Begovac and together they have raised their three children.  Doug worked for Mueller Construction and then for Mohr Wood Floors.  Around 2008, he purchased the Mohr Wood Floors business and has been self-employed.

Doug was a talented carpenter and a handyman who could fix anything.  His talents carried over to jumping rope, but Doug was terrible at hula hooping and dancing.     He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and skiing and volunteering his time with the Superior Central Science Olympiad teams.  He was a dedicated and loving husband and father and his family meant the entire world to him.  Doug was happiest when he was at home surrounded by his wife, kids, and dog Tillie.

He is survived by his wife Shannon of Trenary; their children – Henry, Alice, and Rory all at home; his mother – Theresa Hancock of Munising; mother-in-law – Joni (Rick) Hendrickson of Trenary; father-in-law – Joseph Begovac of Trenary; brother – William (Stacee) Hancock of Franklin, WI; sister – Stacie (Jon) Tyner of Shingleton; brothers-in-law – Ryan (Heather) Begovac of Green Bay, WI and Luke Begovac of Trenary; nieces and nephews – Madisen, Drew, Presley, Josie, Michael, Cyle, Nathen, Kaeleb, Lilly, Lexie and Libby; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his favorite dog – Tillie.   Doug was preceded in death by his father, Norman Hancock, and grandparents Charles and Betty Hancock and Carl and Marge Dawson.
