Eleanor Therese Bonner-Goss, age 90, of Munising, died Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Harbour View Assisted Living in Munising. She was born on March 18, 1935 to the late John and Frances (Drazinski) Twork. Eleanor grew up in Munising and attended Sacred Heart School. At a young age, Eleanor started working to help support her family, she worked at the Delft Theater and then eventually at the Munising Paper Mill. While at the mill she was assigned to the finishing room and met Norman Bonner, the two of them were married on June 18, 1955, and together they raised their six children. As they their young family was growing the Bonner’s moved to their farm on Ridge Road. Summers were filled with camping, picking blueberries, and tending to her large vegetable garden. Eleanor canned and canned and canned everything they grew in the garden alongside her children. She was a great cook, but unfortunately for her children she never wrote down or used a recipe, she just knew what the dish needed. Eleanor loved crafting, she was talented in needle point and Artex paintings. She led a 4-H group where she shared her love of crafts with the kids. Eleanor also served as a Cub Scout leader. While the girls were in school at Deerton, Eleanor would ride the bus to school (because she never got a drivers license) and would volunteer at the library. She loved to visit, whether it was talking on the phone, walking down the road to a neighbor’s for tea, taking a ride with Norman to family members homes’, or traveling to new places, she loved it all. Eleanor was an amazing grandmother and took every opportunity to snuggle and watch her grandkids grow. After Norman preceded her in death, Eleanor married her old childhood friend Charles Goss and they spent many years together.
She is survived by her children – Jim (Deby) Bonner of Canton, OH, Norman “Sonny” (Sheila) Bonner of Munising, Joe (Katie) Bonner of Munising, Tom Bonner of Lansing, Mary (Shaun) Flynn of Munising, and Debbie (Bryan) Mann of Bonne Terre, MO; grandchildren – Chad, Shane (Shannon), Teresa (Brad), Jesse (Elizabeth), David (Ashley), Brian (Nichole), Erin (A.J.), Emily (Scott), Megan (Brad), Mandy (Alex), Billy (Rachel), Stevi (Brian) and Sam (Brianna); 19 great-grandkids, numerous nieces and nephews; and many beloved family members of the Goss family. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents – John and Frances; husbands – Norman Bonner and Charles Goss; grandchildren – Sarah Flynn and Mathew Bonner; daughter-in-law – Carmella Bonner; and siblings – Katherine (Art) Dale, Peter (Dorthy) Twork, Leo (Ann) Twork, John (Rose) Twork, Florence (Ed) Mattson, Stanley (Cheri) Twork, Marie Twork, Helen Twork, and infant brother.
