Gary D. Hart

February 24, 1950 — April 16, 2017

Munising

Gary D. Hart, age 67, of Munising, died at his home under the loving care of his family and hospice on Sunday, April 16, 2017.  He was born on February 24, 1950 in Munising, Michigan to the late Wilbur and Lois (Maddox) Hart.  Gary grew up in Munising, and attended William G. Mather High School.  He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.  Gary married Linda A. Hill on May 19, 1984.  The two of them loved to travel, taking trips across the United States, long weekends to Wisconsin, or camping trips around the U.P.  Gary was a talented mechanic, he worked for the Lakeshore Ford in Munising years ago, and then spent over twenty-five years at Hiawatha Log Homes.  He could fix anything, and his mechanic skills were not saved for just work.  He had a love for speed, and anything he had, he would fix it up to go fast.  Whether it was a snowmobile, motorbike, hotrod, or boat, Gary had his souped-up and would race you in it.  He was also a talented musician, Gary taught himself how to play the guitar and drums by ear, and loved playing with a band.  Gary was a bit of jokester, and had a joke for most every situation.  He enjoyed time with his boys, and being with his grandkids always made him happy.

Gary is survived by his wife – Linda Hart of Munising; sons – Richard (Julie Matson) Hart of Munising, Russell (Jennifer) Hart of Cosby, Tennessee, Gary Hart of Munising, and Gregory (Tricia Stark) Hart of Munising; grandkids – Dylan, Alexis, Kendrick, Josie, Ariana, Conner, Desmond, Kendra, Andre, and River; sister – Bea (Frank) Stimac of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Lois, son John Gary Hart, and grandson Drake.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home.  Pastor Jason LaFlamme will conduct Gary’s funeral service at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
