George Richard Lloyd

George Richard Lloyd, age 62, of 200 W. City Park Drive, Munising, died on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 2:41 a.m. at Marquette General Hospital. He was born on March 28, 1944 in Manistique to the late Vernon and Cassie (Smith) Lloyd. George graduated from Manistique High School. On February 11, 1967, he married Judy Ann Sherwood. George worked for a fencing company in Engadine before beginning employment with the State of Michigan at the state hospital in Ypsilanti. He worked there as a custodian for fifteen years before he was injured and medically retired. George, Judy, and their girls moved to Munising in 1979. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church , and enjoyed meeting new people and visiting with old friends, drinking coffee during his visits, and driving his motorized scooter around town.
He is survived by his wife - Judy Lloyd of Munising; daughters - Carmella (Tom) Bonner and Stacey (Charlie) Lohr all of Munising; grandsons - David, Brian, Adam, and Andrew; sisters - Raelne Nowak of Southgate, MI, Theora Bowler of Germfask, Barbara (JD) Livermore of Germfask, Ethel (Floyd) Hewitt of Lansing, Judy (Mike) Collins of Chesaning, MI, Ellen (John) Ketola of Tecumseh, MI, Joy Bottorff of Mentor, OH; brothers - Vernon (Carolyn) Lloyd of Milan, MI, Dan (Jenny) Lloyd of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Elmer (Paygie) Lloyd of Boyne Falls, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Matthew Bonner, and brothers Ronald and Donald Lloyd.
Services for George will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Thursday, August 24, 2006. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Pastor Robert Tripp of the Wesleyan Church will conduct George's funeral service in the funeral home's chapel at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
