Gerald “Red” “Jerry” Stimac, age 75, of Kenosha, Wisconsin and formerly of Munising died on Monday, September 26, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  He was born on March 7, 1941 in Munising, son of George and Angelina Stimac.  Red graduated from Sacred Heart School and then Wm. G. Mather High School.  He served in the U.S Army following high school.  He married Frances Knoodle and they raised their daughters.  Red began employment with the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in Munising and then Kenosha, retiring in Kenosha.  Red loved to bowl and bowled in leagues in Munising and Kenosha.  He enjoyed taking trips to the casino, road trips, walking, being outside enjoying nature, camping, snowmobiling, and fishing with his friends.  Red loved coming home to Munising and spending time with his family and friends, especially during the 4th of July.  He also enjoyed coffee klatch time and telling endless stories with and about his lifelong friends.

Red is survived by his daughters – Jennifer (Mark) Zuithoff of Sterling, IL and Melinda Mozader of Marquette, MI; grandchildren – Justin, Sabrina, and Michael Mozader, and Sawyer, Laney, and Chance Zuithoff; sister – Angie Mahne of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Gerald Stimac on April 16, 1971 and sisters – Catherine Casey, Dorothy Haynes, Edna Pierce, and Julia Vartti.

Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday, September 30, 2016.  Visiting time with family and friends will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.   Deacon Tom Moseley will conduct Red’s funeral in the funeral home’s chapel at 7:00 p.m.

Graveside services and military honors will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery where the American Legion and Vietnam Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
