Gordon R. Balmer, age 81, of Munising formerly of Owosso, Michigan, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Munising Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 8, 1927 in Detroit, MI to the late Alfred and Violet (Carr) Balmer. Gordon married Nancy Cary on October 11, 1952 and together they raised their four children.
He is survived by his four children - Cheryl (Tom) Nolta of Munising, MI, Gordon (Chris) Balmer of Owosso, MI, Michelle (Mark) Carter of Holland, MI, and Mary Jo (Chuck) Gage of Martinsville, WV; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother - William Balmer of Florida. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, and grandson Jacob Balmer.
A memorial service is being planned for April in Owosso.
