Harry Taylor, age 90, of Gwinn, died Monday, November 23, 2020 at Medilodge in Munising. He was born on January 18, 1930 in Fountain, Michigan to the late Harry and Nora Taylor.  Harry was the youngest of ten children.  When he was in the 6th grade, Harry’s older brothers went to serve in WWII and he left school to help his father run their family farm.  Harry later joined the United States Air Force and while stationed Sculthorpe Training Area in Norfolk, England he met his wife Barbara H. Garwell. They were married on November 10, 1956 and together raised their two children.  Harry was transferred to McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, then K.I. Sawyer, and back to Sculthorpe. While in the service, Harry earned many trophies while competing in skeet shooting competitions. Harry loved the outdoors, so after he was honorably discharged in 1967, Harry and Barb moved their family to Gwinn where they could raise their family and he could hunt and fish.  Harry worked for many years as Milkman for Hillcrest Dairy, delivering milk to families and stores across Marquette and Alger Counties.  He also worked for a number of years at Wallstrom’s in Harvey before retiring.  Harry was a talented artist creating many beautiful leather purses, wallets, and wood carvings.  Harry enjoyed the hunting bear and fishing, but his passion was deer hunting.  He looked forward to fall and the chance to hunt whitetail, a passion he loved to share with his children.

Harry is survived by his children – Susan Mahan of Gwinn and Lee (Jane) Taylor of Skandia; grandchildren – Anna (Dan) Smyth, Adam and Ryan Mahan, and Sonny, Harley, Dominick, and Harper Taylor; great-grandchildren – Hayden, Rhiannon, and Candace; best friend – Wayne “Boney” Johnson; hunting buddy and nephew – Bob Taylor; and numerous other special nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by parents, wife Barb “Benny” Taylor, and nine siblings.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
