D. Helen (Murray) Steinke passed away peacefully on February 3, 2008 at Munising Memorial Hospital, Munising, MI after a short illness. Born February 4, 1917, she lived one day short of 91 full and faithful years, most of which were spent in Ann Arbor, MI. She was a member of Grace Bible Church in Ann Arbor, MI for 60 years prior to moving to Wetmore, MI in 2005 where she faithfully attended Munising Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, her family, flowers, antiques, and the UP. She married Adolph Steinke on May 2, 1943, who preceded her in death in November 1993.
She is survived by her son, Fred (Joetta) Steinke; 2 granddaughters, Jenifer (Benjamin) Weatherston and Deborah Steinke; 1 great grandson, Everett Weatherston; 2 sisters, Ruth Gable and Ila (Kenneth) White; and 1 sister-in-law, Neva Murray. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Murray and her brother-in-law, Jack Gable.
Visitation was held at Bowerman Funeral Home, Monday, February 4, 2008. Funeral Services were held at Munising Baptist Church, Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment and a memorial service will be in Ann Arbor, MI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Munising Baptist Church, N6285 Connors Rd. P.O. Box 339, Wetmore, MI 49895.
