Iris V. Bell

Iris V. Bell, age 65, of Shingleton, died following a brief illness on Friday afternoon, November 18, 2016 at U.P. Health System – Marquette.  She was born on November 3, 1951 in Munising to Joseph and Marie (Monroe) Gould.  Iris grew up in Shingleton and graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1969.  After high school, she worked at her mother’s store in Shingleton.  On July 19, 1975, she married Ronald J. Bell and they moved downstate.  Iris was a homemaker and raised their two daughters.  She was active in their schools and volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader.  In 1990, the family returned back to Shingleton and Iris became very involved with the Shingleton Recreation Club.  She was also an integral part of the establishment of Christ Lutheran Church in Shingleton.  Iris worked as a care aid for Commission on Aging.  She enjoyed camping, crafts, and spending time with her family.  Iris treasured her grandchildren and was always there for them.

She is survived by her husband of over forty-one years – Ron Bell of Shingleton; daughter – Cassie (Ben) Steinhoff of Munising; grandchildren – Leslie, Mason, Caitlin, Cassidy, Callie, Courtney, Monica, and Natalie; brothers – Doug (Jeanie) Gould, Larry (Connie) Gould, Tom (Pam) Gould, and Todd (Melissa) Gould all of Shingleton; mother-in-law – Eleanor Bell; cousin and great friend – Sandy Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews.   Iris was preceded in death by her parents and by her daughter, Melissa Syers.

Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.  Visiting time with family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Pastor Ann Gonyea will conduct Iris’ memorial service in the funeral home’s chapel at 5:00 p.m.
