James “Jimmy” T. Johns, age 74, of Wetmore, died unexpectedly at his home, on Monday, February 8, 2016.  He was born on November 16, 1941 in his family home in Wetmore, MI, the tenth of eleven children to the late Lyman and Ada (Clark) Johns.  Jim worked in the saw mill at Timber Products for over thirty-seven years when he retired in 2002.  He loved to fish.  Jimmy would walk all the way to his family’s cabin near the Forest Glen and everywhere in between to fish his favorite trout ponds.  He enjoyed his long walks in the woods and picking blueberries.

Jim is survived by his siblings – Harold (Jean) Johns of Wetmore, Dorothy Johns of Wetmore, Glen (Carolyn) Johns of Naples, FL, Opal Kyllonen of Hermansville, MI, and Stan (Marilan) Johns of Munising; eighteen nieces and nephews – Carol, Susan, Gloria, Harold Jr., Kathy, Archie, Mary Lou, Wesley, Bonnie, Lisa, Thomas, Virginia, Charlyn, Sherry, Sharon, Timmy, David, and Danny; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law – Charlotte Johns of Davidson, MI.  He was preceded in death by his parents – Lyman and Ada; brothers – Donald, Benjamin, Clayton, and Ivan Johns; sister – Edith Johns; brother-in-law – William Kyllonen; and nephew - Johnny.

Visitation will be at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Pastor Robin VeltKamp will conduct Jim’s funeral at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow at the Wesleyan Church in Wetmore.  Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 2:30 p.m.
