Jeremy Charles Lake passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2026, at the age of 43. Jeremy was born February 21, 1982, in Iron River, Michigan, to Jeanne Marie (Burke) Lake and William Charles Lake. He grew up attending West Iron County Schools and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 2000. Following high school, he attended Michigan Technological University for Computer Science. In recent years, he made his home in Fordland, Missouri. Growing up, Jeremy developed a love of reading from his mom. He was a Minnesota Vikings fan, enjoyed computers, played saxophone, and participated in youth baseball and hockey. Jeremy worked a variety of service jobs throughout his life and often specialized in computer and technology-related areas. He was always very interested in and skilled with computers — from learning how to “hack” systems in the early 1990s to installing security systems for businesses in more recent years. He had a natural ability with technology and was always willing to help others troubleshoot problems or learn something new. Most recently, Jeremy had completed his CDL and was looking forward to getting on the road. He enjoyed helping his dad with everything from fixing cars to working on building projects. He loved to learn as much as he possibly could and was always curious about how things worked.
Jeremy was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanne Marie (Burke) Lake; his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Jean Burke; his paternal grandparents, John and Helvi Lake; his Uncle Billy Burke; and his Aunt Elaine and Uncle Bob Andree. Jeremy is survived by his father, William (Sheila) Korbitz; his sisters, Erica (Philip) Larson and Erin (Edward) Zarn; his uncle, Kevin Burke; his nieces, Ava, Hazel, Alexa, Payton, and Ella; and his nephews, Edward and Maverick. Jeremy’s wishes were to be cremated, with his ashes to be spread in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
A celebration of Jeremy’s life will take place this summer, allowing family and loved ones to gather and honor his wishes. Jeremy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the “family of Jeremy Lake.”
