Joanne L. Nyman Bresette

Joanne L. (Ross) Nyman Bresette, age 86, of Harvey, died at her home on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 of an unexpected illness. She was born in Detroit and raised by her mother and stepfather Signe “Sally” (Karvonen) and William “Bill” Johnson. Joanne grew up in Deerton and Marquette and graduated from Graveraet High School. She married Donald Bresette and raised their two children. Joanne worked at Cliff Dow Chemical, Shopko and then at Marquette Senior High School. Ms. Bresette was the school secretary at the high school for decades. She also served as the union representative. Joanne retired from the Marquette Public School System. She loved traveling on union trips and wanted to travel to all 48 lower states. Joanne married Lowell Nyman. They wintered in Texas and summered in Harvey. He preceded her in death in 1999. Joanne enjoyed camping when her children were younger, and she had beautiful flower gardens.

She is survived by her son – Brian Bresette of Shelter Bay; grandchildren – Garret (Jennifer) Gellar of Camp Hill, PA and Brianna Lees of Union, IA; and great-grandchildren – Sophia, Forest, Maddin, and Masyn. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lowell, daughter Jodean M. Bresette, grandson Jay Lees, and daughter-in-law Connie Lacko.
