John Howard “Jack” “Chicago” Corcoran

Jack was born in Streator, Illinois, on September 12, 1952, to James Howard Corcoran and Hildegarde Drinan Corcoran. He died peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2026, surrounded by friends and caretakers in Munising, Michigan.

Private funeral services for Jack will be held at a later date. Jack’s family kindly suggests donations in his honor be made to St. Jude: Online Donations - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Raised in the small town of Ransom, Illinois, Jack Corcoran went on to graduate from Streator High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University, in Normal, Illinois. After a career working in a power plant in Morris, Illinois, Jack traveled around the country and discovered the magnificent beauty of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and decided to put down his roots there. Jack loved the life and people he found in Au Train, Michigan, where he researched to find the most snow. He certainly found it and happily lived the rest of his life there.

Jack was a kind and loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and niece. Jack is survived by his siblings Jim (Joyce) Corcoran and Judy (Tom) Coughlin as well as his nieces and nephews and great-nephews: Brad (Leslie) Coughlin, their son Nolan, Julia (Antonio) Mautino Messina, Rich Mautino, Frank (Lena Alfano) Mautino, Mike Corcoran, Jim (Stacy) Corcoran, and Kelly Corcoran (Jay) Papp as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Jack’s family would like to thank his devoted friends and caretakers: Sandy and Jack McCollum, their daughter Emily Albro, and Mick and Mary Tiernan. We’d also want to express our deep appreciation for the wonderful staff at Harborview Assisted Living where he was truly loved and cared for. A special thanks also to Senior Life Solutions and staff, where he loved attending every week and where he made many friends. Additionally, we’d also like to thank Baycare Medical Clinic, where he was attended to by PA Dylan Koeing, Bruce Dausey, and their wonderful staff. These people went far beyond just caring for him in their professional roles; they became true friends. All of these and many more enriched Jack’s life with loving and dedicated care. Jack will be missed by so many whose lives he became a part of.
