John Herbert Williams, 80, of Traverse City, MI passed away peacefully on March 17, 2022 at Boardman Lake Glens.
John was born on March 20, 1941 in Manistique to the late Ralph and Adelaide (Rosen) Williams. He graduated from Manistique High School in 1959.
John owned, operated and printed the Munising News for over 20 years. He previously managed the commercial printing department at the Manistique Pioneer-Tribune for 15 years. He was a self-proclaimed workaholic and had an incredible work ethic.
He enjoyed travelling to warm weather in the cold months and riding on his pontoon boat on Lake Superior in the summer. He also greatly enjoyed Friday night dinners at the Forest Inn and his coffee clutch at the Dog Patch, a tradition he upheld for many years. In his retirement years he moved to Appleton, WI and then to Traverse City, MI where he enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and was an integral part of their lives.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brother “Buck”, and son in law Fritz Peters.
John is survived by his partner of over 35 years, Elizabeth “Betty Ann” Williams; sister Lois (Terry) Ross, daughter Gina Paradise; step daughters Amy (Scott) Palomaki, Cynthia Peters and Shelby Baker; grandchildren Paige and Sydney Palomaki and Madison Baker, Lucas Paradise and Megan Dehanke; great grandchild Dawson Alvarez; nieces Cindy, Julie and Kathy; and many other family and friends.
