John "JD" Dolan Fink

John Dolan “JD” Fink, age 72, of Rudyard and formerly of Munising, died Sunday, June 3, 2018 under hospice care in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.  He was born on July 2, 1945 in Munising to Wilbur "Slim" and Miriam (Dolan) Fink.  Born and raised in Munising, JD graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1964 where he participated in Mustang basketball, football and track (and he held a pole vaulting record for many years.)   He continued to enjoy athletics throughout his lifetime.  JD married the former Marie Schultz on October 8, 1988 at Munising Falls.  He worked in the Tool and Die industry and also at Kimberly Clark in Munising.  JD retired from the State of Michigan as a Corrections Officer from Kinross.  JD loved to fish, do wood work, music and dancing.  He was a talented builder and enjoyed refurbishing old cars.

JD is survived by his wife – Marie Fink of Rudyard; children – Carla Fink of Munising, Jay Fink of Comstock Park, MI and Kayla (Chuck) Nichols of Byron Center, MI; grandchildren Jaycob, Skylar, Lincoln, and Ella Rose; sister – Andrea Everett of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews.   JD was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons Harold A. and John D. Fink, and sister Susan Fleichman.

Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Friday, June 29, 2018.  Visiting time with family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  A memorial service and time of sharing memories will be held in the funeral home’s chapel at 2:00 p.m. with JD’s nephew Leo Arnestad officiating.
