Karolyn "Honey" Joy (Wood) Adams

Karolyn “Honey” Adams, age 72, of Shingleton, died at her home following a year long illness early Sunday morning, October 2, 2016.  She was born on September 1, 1944 in Otsego, Michigan to the late William and Edith (Jones) Wood.  Honey grew up in Otsego and attended high school there.  She raised her family and worked as a bartender in Texas, Las Vegas, California, and Ohio.  Honey was proud that she earned her G.E.D. when she was forty years old.  On January 23, 1986, she married John “Baby John” Adams.  In May of 1987, they moved to the U.P. where John had loved to vacation and hunt.  Together they purchased the Jack Pine Lodge and retired when they sold it in 2001.  They were married nearly twenty-seven years when John preceded her in death on January 6, 2013.  Honey enjoyed flower gardening and she loved dancing and singing.  She enjoyed making people happy and always had a story and a toast for any special occasion.

Honey is survived by her children - Peter (Dayna) Miller, Josie Miller, Tony (Chris) Miller, Sheryl (Mike) Dixon, Wes (Connie) Howell, Angel Gilbert, Kelli Blatt; stepsons - Richard (Maryanne) Adams and Ron (Betty) Adams; daughter-in-law – Becky Adams; grandchildren – Kristy (Joe) Garofalo, Jason (Heather) Adams, Jeff (Elizabeth) Adams, Justin Adams, Lauren (Matt) Brown, Jenny Adams, John-Thomas Adams, Bradley Hannah, Michael Dixon, Christopher Dixon, Brandy Rawls, Cody Gilbert, Hayle (Brandon) Chartier, Maxwell Miller, Amanda Miller, Levi Miller, Ben Miller, JJ Howell, Daniel Howell, Riley Miller, and Reece Miller; great-grandchildren - Cameron Adams, Dominique Adams, Donovin Adams, Justin Adams, Jr., Haleigh Adams, Joseph Adams, Sharon Huizenga, Gabriel Adams, Audrey Brown, Owen Brown, Dominic Garofalo, Robert “R.J.” Garofalo, Ruby Taylor, Chase Chartier, Gracyn Miller, and three more on the way; brother – Bill (Judy) Wood of Ostego, MI; sister – Janet (Milo) Holroid of the Kalamazoo area; nieces and nephews; and former husband David Miller.

Honey was preceded in death by her parents, son – Billy Miller and stepson - Robert Adams; great-granddaughter – Paisley Adams, and husbands John Adams, Bobbie Norris, and Jerry Howell.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Jack Pine Lodge on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.
