Kenneth "Cashew" George Davis

Kenneth George "Cashew" Davis, age 51, of Munising, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday evening, November 22, 2006. Ken was born on May 10, 1955 to Lois (nee Carlson) and the late Victor Davis, Sr. He grew up in Munising and in 1979 relocated to Kenosha, WI where he was employed at Anchor-Hocking. In 1995, he returned to Munising and had been employed at the Timber Products Hardwood Mill. Ken married Beryl Robare in 1997 and they had two children, daughter Marguerite "Maggie" and son Kenny. Ken was a loving father and his pride of and commitment to his kids were unsurpassed. Ken was a fun loving guy who loved to make others laugh. Blessed with an uncanny gift of hand-eye coordination and a competitive nature, he could take you on in a game, whip you, but have you laughing while you were getting beat. He was on a Class A fast pitch softball team while living in Kenosha. Ken pitched a no-hitter, an almost unheard of accomplishment in amateur softball. Whether it be foosball , bowling, pool, or horseshoes, it would be an accomplishment to better his play. Ken was a loving and proud father if there ever was one. He enjoyed spending his time sharing and enjoying what nature has to offer us in our area of the world. Be it fishing, hunting, or ice fishing, the kids were always included in the venture.
Ken is survived by his children who "loved their wonderful dad and will miss him so much" - Maggie and Kenny Davis of Munising; his mother - Lois Davis of Holland, MI; siblings - Larry (Nancy) Davis of Berwick, Maine, Arlene (Bob) Nickerson of Holland, Janet (Bob) Vaughn of Benton, KY, Ron "Peanut" (Sandy) Davis of Munising, Betty Jo (Joseph) Schell of Ray, MI, and Pamela (Rick) Kammeraad of Holland. Ken was preceded in death by his father Victor W. Davis and his brother Victor "Billy" Davis.
Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Ken's funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2007 in the funeral home's chapel. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
