Linda Pyrek-Cummings, age 71, of Wetmore, died Thursday evening, April 2, 2026 at her home under the loving care of her family and Schoolcraft Memorial Hospice. She was born on August 5, 1954 in Muskegon, Michigan. Linda was raised in Newberry by her parents, Harold and Virginia (Pender) DePottey. She married Gene Pyrek and together raised their family. Linda was always a hard worker and bartended at Baij’s Bar and the Hunter’s Inn. She worked security for Pinkerton at the paper mill and then went to work at Timber Products. It was there where she met and then married George Cummings, Jr. After twenty years, she retired and then worked part-time at the Forest Glen Store. Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren. She liked to play Bingo, take motorcycle rides, sunbathe at the beach, and fish with George. Linda had a great sense of humor, and she kept a meticulous home.

Linda is survived by her husband – George Cummings, Jr. of Wetmore; daughters – Tammy (Mark Seppala) Fetterhoff of Republic and Danelle (Tim) Witty of Munising; step-daughter – Courtney (Dave Fulton) Cummings of Chatham; grandchildren – Sasha, Trent, Trevor, Taletha, Cleo, Keegan, Bram, and Ahren; great-grandchildren – Ada, Alayna, Alex, Allan, Alexandria, Adrianna, Lincoln, Callum, and a baby girl on the way; siblings – Charles “Bud” (Audrey) Matthews, Colleen Bergey, and Bridget Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, siblings – Teddy Brown, Jeanette Wahr, Wayne “Butch” Matthews, Betty Matthews, Pat Matthews, Edwin “Punk” Matthews, and Roxanne DePottey.
