Linda Mae Stone

Linda Mae Stone, age 71, of Munising formerly of Kingsley, passed away peacefully, September 25, 2015 surrounded by family and loved ones at U.P. Health System in Marquette following a brief illness. She was born on October 5, 1943 in Deer Park, Ohio to the late Robert and Lillian (Sumner) Peel. Linda graduated from Traverse City High School in 1962. On July 7, 1962 she married Richard B. Stone. While they raised their family, Linda worked for Shell Oil and Wells Insurance in Traverse City. Linda and Dick moved to Munising to enjoy their retirement life. She was very involved in the Munising Baptist Church and enjoyed life to the fullest. Linda enjoyed the outdoors with waterfall hunting and camping, and was a talented crafter in her knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years - Dick Stone of Munising; three sons - David (Robin) of Grawn, Michigan, Michael (Lynn)Stone and Joseph (Diana) Stone both from Kingsley; daughter-in-law - Melinda Stone (Stephen Smith) of Kingsley; six grandchildren - Christopher (Tara), Andrew (Leanna), Santana, Jacob, Sarah, and Zachery Stone; great-grandchildren - Lillian, Evelynn, Gwendalynn, and Isabella; siblings - Sharon (Larry) Ourerkerk of Wooster, OH, Marge (Terrin) Wales of Harrison, Stephen (Judy) Peel of Elk Rapids, Tom Peel of Harrison, and Greg (Mary) Peel of Traverse City. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and oldest son, Jeffrey A. Stone.

Services will be held at the Munising Baptist Church in Wetmore on Sunday, September 27, 2015. Visiting time with family and friends will be from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jason LaFlamme will conduct Linda's memorial service at 1:00 p.m.
