Margaret “Maggie” Irene Martin, age 94, of Munising, died Thursday, February 28, 2019 at her home under the loving care of her family and North Woods Home Hospice.  She was born in Munising on July 14, 1924 to the late Samuel and Margarete (Chartier) Cremer.  She graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1942.  Maggie married Leonard “Smokey” Martin.  Together they raised their nine children.  She worked as a nurse’s aide for both the Superior Health Haven and Munising Memorial Hospital.  Maggie was a member of Sacred Heart Church and member of many local community boards.  She enjoyed working in her garden and cooking.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her children – Ellen “Sue” (Jan) Golisek, Leonard (Linda) Martin, Dennis “Gomer” (Carol) Martin, Kim (Steve) Swanberg, Arlene “Penny” (Bill) DesArmo, David (Becky) Martin, Phillip Marin, and Cherie (Al) Pierson; and many grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents – Samuel and Margarete; husband – Smokey Martin; and daughter – Pamela Ann Martin.
