Marilyn Janel (Spivey) Hebert, age 86, of Munising died surrounded by family of natural causes on Friday, July 17, 2026 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming, Michigan. She was born in Eastman, Georgia on October 29, 1939 the first of four children born to the late Eddie Cleveland and Zola Mae (Atkinson) Spivey. Marilyn was raised in Munising and attended Wm. G. Mather High School. She married John Joseph Hebert on October 12, 1956 and had their son Scott in 1957 and daughter Jo Lynn in 1959. The family moved to Racine, Wisconsin but eventually moved back to the Munising area in 1974 and built a home on the corner of Percy Road in Shingleton (North Fork.) Marilyn enjoyed mowing her eight acres of property, loved taking care of her flowers, and picking blueberries in the beautiful outdoors. She also loved going shopping, going on cruises, and going to the casino with friends.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of seventy-two years – John Hebert; daughter – Jo Lynn, granddaughter – Nicole (Scott) Baker; great-grandchildren – Johnathan Nolan and Katelyn Roti; and great-great-granddaughters – Elija “Ellie” Rose and Èowyn “Evie” Victoria Nolan. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Scott Hebert on August 23, 1988, sister Myrtle Lynn, and brothers Marvin Spivey, Irving Summerville, Bob Summerville, and Paul Summerville.
