Michael Allen Robinson, age 55, of Shingleton, died at his home of an unexpected illness on Sunday, November 2, 2025. He was born in Munising on February 20, 1970 to Allen and Mary Ann (Wright) Robinson. Mike was a standout athlete as the quarterback on the football team, he played baseball, and he played basketball for the Munising Mustangs. Mike graduated from MHS in 1988. He began working next to his dad at Shingleton Oil at the age of twelve. He was a mechanic and earned his associate’s degree from NMU while working full time. He was always working projects with his hands. Mike took over Wright Grocery from his parents in 2019 and continued to operate alongside his children. He loved his children and did everything he could for them. He would have holes in his shoes, but his kids had what they needed. Mike loved being with his kids. He played with them outside when they were young and as they got older, he still played with them whether it was card games or poker, or fighting with Michael and Mikala over who won NHL Hockey on the PlayStation. Mike took the kids to Tigers games and NMU Hockey games. He loved to play and watch golf, and loved spring break trips to Florida where he loved taking advantage of an “all you can eat crab leg dinner.” His dog, Fiji, meant the world to him. Mike was a proud member of the “Maybe Next Year” Lions Fan Club. He was willing to help others however he could. Mike cared for his community and whomever needed help, he helped.

Mike is survived by his children – Lily, Mikala, and Michael Robinson II, his father – Allen Robinson; brother – Jeff Robinson; niece and nephews – Connor, Eric, and Taylor; many cousins including Shannon Payne who was like a sister to Mike. He was preceded in death by his mother – Mary Ann Robinson.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m. A luncheon will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Munising.
