Nan Marie (nee Carl) Peterson, age 55, of of Kihei, Maui, died on Monday, April 3, 2006 at the Maui Memorial Medical Center following an unexpected brief illness. She was born on September 25, 1950 in Saginaw, Michigan to Patrick and Geraldine (Sauve) Carl. Nan graduated from St. Charles High School in 1968. She went to Bay De Noc College and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing . Nan worked as a Registered Nurse at Norlite Nursing Center and Crawford Health and Rehabilitation . Eight years ago, Nan moved to Maui to be closer to her son, James. She loved working as a private duty nurse in Hawaii. She enjoyed snorkeling, hanging out at the beach, and her many friends. Nan is survived by her son, James Husack of Kihei; her mother and step-father - Geraldine and Earl Rowley; brothers - Mike (Cindy) Carl of Caro, MI, Wayne Carl of Columbus, OH, Roy Carl of Grand Rapids, MI; sisters - Jane (Earl) Steinhoff of Munising, Sue (Mike) Nettleton of Munising, Beth (Scott) Leppanen of Munising, and Mary (Gary) Tweedale of Trenary; and numerous nieces and nephews. Nan was preceded in death by her father, Pat Carl on May 16, 1985. A private memorial service will be held in Hawaii on April 22, 2006 at Nan's favorite place to snorkel, Molokini Island.
