Nancy E. (Hebert) Cook

March 22, 1943 — May 9, 2023

Munising

Nancy E. Cook, age 80, of Munising, died early Tuesday morning, May 9, 2023 while surrounded by her family at UPHS - Marquette.   She was born in Detroit on March 22, 1943 to Lawrence and Alice (Wilbur) Hebert.  When Nancy was around the age of twelve, the family moved back to her parent’s hometown of Munising.  She graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1961. On August 25, 1962, she married Robert Thomas Cook and together raised their four children.  Nancy was a stay-at-home mom and a domestic goddess.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and a craft club where she enjoyed Artex painting, card making, and jewelry making.  Nancy enjoyed playing card games of cribbage, euchre, skip-bo and rummikub.  She was a kind woman unless she was playing a game against you, then she was cut throat competitive and would call you “rat” if you beat her.  She loved being with her family and grandchildren.  She and Bob would spend time walking together, playing cards with friends, and watching the Detroit Lions.  They were married over thirty-five years when he preceded her in death on January 30, 1998.

Nancy is survived by her children – Bob (Chris Savola) Cook of Munising, Tom (Tammy) Cook of Munising, David (Tracie) Cook of Gas City, IN, and Chris (Jon) Lindquist of Chatham; grandchildren – Amanda (Mark) Hermann, Nicole Cook, Valerie (Jaris) Goings, Emily Cook, Josh (Lisa) Cook, Lucas (Rachell Kozlowski) Cook, Madison Cook, Kaylynn Lindquist, and Josie (Stape Crutchfield) Lindquist; great-grandchildren – Hailey, Natalie, Jonn, Jaris Jr., Karter, Brantlee, Lakken, Braylin, and Crew; sisters-in-law – Babe Hebert and Marilyn Cook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob; grandson Andrew Cook; siblings – Larry Hebert, Wanda (Hank) Drumsta, Alice (Joe) Hansen, Patsy (Pete) Charland, Ernalee (Ross) Dawson, Patrick Hebert, Marilyn Hoemke, and infant sister Jean Marie Hebert; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law – Jack Cook, Elizabeth “Babe” Reinke, Marie Hill, Jim (Carolyn) Cook, Lloyd “Quig” (Donna) Cook, Charles “Bud” Cook and Clare (Fred) Esis.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church.  Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.  A luncheon to follow at Tom and Tammy Cook's home.
