Pamela P. Holbert, age 71, of Munising, died Sunday, May 3, 2026 at the Trillium House in Marquette under the loving care of her family, Trillium staff, and U.P. Home Health and Hospice. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 6, 1955 to Kermit and Dorothy (Lauterback) Pennington. When she was two, she moved to Alma, Michigan and graduated from Alma High School in 1973. Pam married Gary Holbert on February 17, 1981 and together they raised their children in Marquette at their home on Cresent Street. Pam was great mother who encouraged her kids to try new things and supported them at every turn. She was a troop leader for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and was proud to have raised two Eagle Scouts. As the kids got older Pam continued to work with scouting at the Boy Scout office in Harvey. After retirement Pam and Gary moved to their home on West Lost Lake in Wetmore where they had spent many summers enjoying outdoors. Pam was a member of the Wetmore Women’s Club and enjoyed all the time spent with her friends. Pam was a life-long Chicago Bears fan, which was easy to imagine seeing her uncle was Bears legend and coach George Halas. Pam had great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes (especially a good Eino and Toivo joke) and putting smiles of people faces. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her beloved pets Jake and Tika, and adored being a grandma. Pam was an avid reader and enjoyed sci-fi novels, Stephen King, and even picking up an Encyclopedia Britannica. She also enjoyed gardening, playing her keyboard, and watching Jeopardy. Pam had an amazingly talented and creative mind. She painted, crafted, made sock gnomes and snowmen, and wrote and illustrated stories. Pam loved to write stories and wrote throughout the lives of her children and grandchildren. Ugg, the imaginary gnome, appeared in Pam’s stories when her grandchildren were young and gave their childhood the magic and imagination only a gifted Grandma could give.

Pam is survived by her children – Brooke (Ted Niemi) Holbert of Marquette, Dean (Brandi Siefert) Holbert of Negaunee and Josh (Tania Majinski) Holbert of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren – Ethan Anderson and Haley (James Hemmila) Anderson; great-grandson – Liam. She was preceded in death by her husband - Gary Holbert; parents – Kermit Pennington, Dorothy and Alexander Hendershot; mother-in-law Barbara Holbert; and brother-in-law – Brandon Holbert.
