Patrick “Pat” D. Holysz, age 67, of Munising, died with his loving wife at his side on Monday, December 5, 2016 at UP Health Systems Marquette following a lengthy illness. He was born the second of five sons to Polish immigrants Roman and Marion (Chat) Holysz on June 8, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. Pat graduated from Hackett Catholic High School in Kalamazoo in 1967. Pat started his family and had a son and two daughters. He worked as a mason for over forty years. On April 5, 1995, Pat married Corinne McAfee. After honeymooning in the U.P., they moved to Munising. Pat and Corinne attended Sacred Heart Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, enjoying a beer with friends, going to the Moose Lodge, watching Fox News, trips to the casino, family gatherings, and scratch off tickets.
Pat is survived by his wife – Corinne Holysz of Munising; children – Patrick, Krista, and Kimberly; step-children – Jennifer, Edward,a nd Christal; twenty grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brothers – Joseph, Michael, Timothy, and Peter. He was preceded in death by his parents Roman and Marion Holysz and his grandparents Roman and Modesty (Kornatowski) Holysz.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Munising with Father Chris Gardiner officiating. Graveside services will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
