Ronald Leon Higby, age 35, of Gwinn and formerly of Escanaba and Munising, died on Sunday, November 6, 2016 in Gwinn. He was born on April 21, 1981 in Escanaba to Cynthia Higby and Leon Charles Dube. Ron grew up in Escanaba and attended school there. He moved to Munising in 2000 with his mom and worked as a Pit Boss at the Kewadin Casino. Ron moved to Marquette and held jobs at Kohls, Togo’s, Verizon, and Art Van Furniture. At the time of his death, Ron was employed by Global Response in Gwinn. He enjoyed volunteering his time at the Animal Shelter.
Ron is survived by his mother – Cindy Higby-Bruce of Munising; brother and sister-in-law – Randy and Carlene Higby of Escanaba; partner – Jacob Huntsberger of Gwinn; father – Chuck Dube of Escanaba; half-sister – Janelle; numerous cousins; and his beloved cats – Jade, Jasper, Jasmine, Hubert, Princess, and Pip.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
