Obituary

Rose Terese St. Martin, age 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, under the care of their compassionate staff. She was born to Dick and Myrtle (Rappert) St. Martin on September 9, 1942, in Munising, Michigan, Rose lived a life defined by kindness, independence, and a steadfast dedication to the well-being of others.

A 1960 graduate of Newberry High School, Rose followed her calling into healthcare, earning her RN from St. Mary's Nursing School in 1963. She began her career at Munising Memorial Hospital and later served at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital. Her passion for public health led her to the LMAS District Health Department, where she expanded her credentials by becoming a licensed nurse practitioner. Even in retirement, her commitment to service continued as she filled in as needed at the Marquette County Health Department.

Throughout her decades in nursing and public health, Rose touched countless lives across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Her work reflected her unwavering belief in caring for others and making her community a better place.

Beyond her professional achievements, Rose lived with a pioneer’s spirit and a deep love for nature and animals. She was an avid sled dog racer and maintained a hobby farm in Trenary that brought her great joy. Her creativity shone through in her many crafts—she was well known for knitting her generously sized Christmas stockings and for spinning yarn from the wool of the miniature sheep she raised on the farm. Her home was often filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals, bread, simmering canned goods, and her award-winning jams and jellies.

Rose cherished her adventures with her cousin Sandy Mulligan during her winters in Benson, Arizona, and she created countless joyful memories dancing with her husband Roy at country dances.

Rose was a devoted mother and caring wife whose warmth extended to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Roy Robinson; her sons, Bob (Laura Fredrickson) Hendrickson, Jason (Tammy) Hendrickson and first husband Dennis Hendrickson; her step-sons, Roy (August) Robinson II and Justin (Kaitlyn) Robinson; grandchildren Sierra Hendrickson, Caitlyn Hendrickson and Austin Fair; step-grandchildren Kate Robinson, Claire (Ethan) Cooper, Raymond Robinson, Anna Robinson, Faith Robinson, Madison Robinson, Olivia Robinson, Charolette Robinson and Reed Robinson; step-great-grandchildren Roman Robinson and Callum Robinson. She is also survived by her sister, Cheryl St. Martin; her brother, Ron St. Martin along with multiple cousins and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton “Dick” St. Martin and Myrtle St. Martin, her sister, Louise St. Martin and nephew Clayton St. Martin.

Rose Terese St. Martin will be remembered for her strength, her boundless compassion, her love of animals and family, and her unwavering sense of purpose. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Munising in the summer of 2026, followed by a graveside burial of her remains. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trenary First Lutheran Church–ELCA, N1030 Trenary Avenue, Trenary, Michigan.
