Ruth Marie (Masters) Schumacher

Ruth Marie Schumacher, age 91, of Munising, died at her home following an unexpected illness on Friday, February 23, 2018.  She was born in Munising on February 12, 1927 to Willis and Sarah (Savoie) Masters and was a lifelong Munising resident.  After graduating from high school, Ruth went to work at the Kimberly Clark Munising Paper Mill.  After an eight-year courtship, she and Robert “Bob” Schumacher were married on May 2, 1959 and spent over twenty-six years together when he preceded her in death on February 3, 1986.  Ruth was a caregiver for her mother and she generously shared her talents of knitting with others.   She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church and had a deep commitment to her Catholic faith.

Ruth is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, and brothers Donald, Willis (Vera), Chester (Elsie), and Wayne (Barbara) Masters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Sacred Heart Church with Father Chris Gardiner officiating.   Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising at a later date.
