Scott David Mellon, age 62, of Christmas died on August 28, 2025 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor following a lengthy illness. He was born on August 21, 1963 to Beverly (Gering) and David Mellon in Grand Haven. The family moved to Iron Mountain and then Munising. Scott graduated from Munising High School in 1981. Bev married Patrick Gregg and he became a major part of Scott’s world teaching him how to be a mechanic, at their family-owned business the Yamaha shop. Scott also worked at their previously owned family business’s Alger Heights Motel and also at the Brownstone Inn. He became a certified mechanic and worked on Yamaha, Ski-Doo, and Polaris at the Christmas Sports Outlet in Christmas. In July of 2008, Scott opened his business, Scott’s Repair out of his home and he fixed boats, snowmobiles, lawnmowers, and any small engine that needed some love. He was a great resource for not only fixing people’s engines, but also for having the parts that no one else could find. Scott’s decline in health forced him to stop working. He enjoyed raising chickens, ducks, and turkeys and enjoyed working in the vegetable garden. Scott was an avid deer and partridge hunter and loved rifle and muzzle loading season. He enjoyed pontoon rides on Lake Superior, snowmobiling when younger, and road trips to the casino in Sault Ste. Marie. He was also known for his signature pig roasts for many occasions.
