Teddy William Brown, Sr., age 72, of Munising, died under the loving care of his family and North Woods Hospice at his home early Thursday morning, December 18, 2025. He was born in Muskegon on June 17, 1953. Teddy was raised in Newberry and Munising by his parents, Harold and Virginia (Pender) DePottey. He was a mechanic by trade and by heart his entire life. When he wasn’t working, he was scrapping metal. Teddy worked for Kerry Sorenson Trucking out of Little Lake and then for Gerou Excavating for over 20 years. He retired in 2015. Teddy married Darlene (Rochefort) Syers on June 30, 2001. He liked to socialize at the Trail’s End and New Moon and loved taking rides in the woods. Teddy helped Dave Mannisto with his logging for many years. He loved the work and the company. His long beard earned him the nickname “Father Time.” If Teddy liked you, he harassed you, and he would help whenever anyone called.
He is survived by his wife of over twenty-four years – Darlene Brown of Munising; children – Raymond (Shannon Smith) Brown of Gwinn, Teddy “T.J.” Brown, Jr. of Munising, Rose (Mark) Kimberlin of Hobart, IN, and Katie Brown of Christmas; step-children – Les (Melissa) Syers of Shingleton, Brad Syers of Wayland, MI, and Heather (Joshua Isotalo) Syers of Bark River; grandchildren – Jesse, Tiana, Kylah, Sierra, Destiny, Jayden, Frankie, Lillian, Nick, Tyler, Katence, Leslie, Mason, Tyler, Kali, Tristin, Levi, Brad Jr., Pam, Michael, and Wes; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings – Charles “Bud” Audrey Brown, Linda (George) Pyrek, Colleen Bergey, and Bridget Brown; in-laws – Shirley Stone, Steven (Clara) Rochefort, Patty (Rocky) VanDorn, Brenda Rochefort, and Les (Cris Weinberg) Rochefort.
